  Magic Flute
The Magic Flute is an opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the German libretto was written by Emanuel Schikaneder. The work is in the form of a Singspiel, a popular form that included both singing and spoken dialogue. It was first performed in 1791 in Vienna, Austria, with Mozart conducting the orchestra.
The Magic Flute has delighted audiences of all ages for centuries.
We have chosen to show Ingmar Bergman’s film of this opera, one of the indisputable classics in the opera-as-film genre. Bergman puts his own stamp on Mozart's exquisite opera in this sublime rendering of one of the composer's best-loved works: a celebration of love, forgiveness, and the brotherhood of man.
This opera would be suitable for children 10 years an older. Christopher Purdy will be hosting.
