Christopher Purdy from WOSU presents Tosca, the last opera in the Summer Opera on Film Series. Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini. It was first performed in Rome in 1900. The work is a melodramatic piece set in Rome in June 1800 and is based on Victorien Sardou's 1887 play, La Tosca.

It contains depictions of torture, murder and suicide, yet also includes some of Puccini's best-known lyrical arias. We have chosen the 2011 production by the Royal Opera House. Featuring outstanding performances by the iconic Angela Gheorghiu as Tosca and the talented tenor Jonas Kaufmann. 2011, 100 Min.
