The Men Who United the States

By Simon Winchester

Reviewer: Henry Cepluch

How did this country become the U.S.A. of the 21st century? Winchester ponders the nation-building activities that have occurred since the U.S. Constitution was ratified in 1788 and pinpoints the eclectic and eccentric mix of visionaries and risk-takers who pulled the disparate segments of this country together, creating the powerhouse nation that it is today.

Perfect Life
Review
This book is about a newswoman (think Barbara Walters) who has a blind and diabetic child that she sent put into a school at 8. The girl now 19 comes to live with her mother after her school is temporarily closed. The girl's new car giver is man who shows her how to become more independent and falls in love with the mother. This is typical Danielle Steele story. If you like her books, you will like this book.

All the Queen's Players
Review
This book is about a girl put into the court of Queen Elizabeth in order to spy. She is banished to the court of Mary Queen of Scots after she has had an inappropriate relationship (lost her virginity)in order to spy and get information about possible treason activities by Mary against Elizabeth. This book seems long and I think would better be enjoyed by someone is more knowledgeable about that period of history.
